One thing that is clearly wrong is line-end handling. BibTeX will happily read LFCR and LF files on my Mac with no complaints. The same files give errors with BibTeXU when using LFCR. Now that is not the native line ending on the system, but as BibTeX is happy then I think BibTeXU should be too.</description>

		<description>regarding bibtexu -- it was a project by yannis h and his student(s), although peter breitenlohner did most of the work of integrating it into tl.  it uses the same icu library that xetex uses.  i have asked yannis for documentation, tips, or anything. no joy.  so any info you glean is welcome :).</description>
