The emergence of tools like Scott Pakin&#039;s ctanify (and your own scripts for Windows) should help to standardise the process further for developers.

Windows makes it very easy to drop one TDS directory onto your local texmf tree and merge the two; on the Mac, however, doing this will overwrite the texmf tree :) so you need to resort to the command line to merge two folders.</description>
