		<description>For XeLaTeX, there is of course polyglossia (http://tug.ctan.org/cgi-bin/ctanPackageInformation.py?id=polyglossia).  I&#039;d agree entirely that babel does too many things at once, and as a developer it is hard to keep track of all of them.</description>
